Just because the days are getting shorter, it doesn’t mean you have to stop cycling. Keep riding with our Autumn Series – now open for free booking. These rides are all about getting the best out of the season, perfect for getting out on your bike and warming up on a fresh autumn morning! As ‘challenging’ rides you can expect distances of twenty miles and above, usually with some hills thrown in along the way. You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins to take part, but you’ll need to be fairly fit. An ambling route around quiet roads in well tended villages and fields.  The proximity of the busy M62 and the PowerStation’s that dominate the skyline seem miles away as you explore the peaceful roads between Knottingley and Selby.  The outward Journey takes you along the National route 62, over the runways of RAF Burn and along the towpath towards Selby where we eventually meet our halfway point of the ride at the beautiful Selby Abbey.  The return takes us past two lovely wooded areas - Brayton Barff and Hambleton Hough on peaceful lanes.  Although the ride is just over 30 miles the majority of the route is fairly flat so is perfect for anybody who is looking to increase their distance but not tackle many climbs. This ride uses part of National Cycle Network (NCN) route 62. To find out more about the NCN and other great places to cycle near you everyday, go to the Sustrans website (http://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map/national-cycle-network).
