Meet at The Cycle Hub, Newcastle Quayside, NE6 1BU at 08.45am for a 9am prompt depart.

On Sunday 20th July women around the world will take place in a mass event to cycle 100km on this day. Find out more about the challenge on the Rapha Website http://pages.rapha.cc/womens100 If you use Strava and complete the challenge you'll be sent a special commemorative Rapha woven patch! Our route makes a beautiful curvy figure of 8 shape centered around The Cycle Hub, Newcastle Quayside, NE6 1BU. We've taken a theme of the female form and will be visiting a couple of stunning sculpture installations on our travels. Plenty of photo opportunities! This ride will be faster than ordinary Breeze rides. We will aim for a pace of around 10 - 12 miles per hour. You need to be confident riding on roads and in a group. Ideally you will have completed a sportive event or a similar ride previously. There is a somewhat chunky hill climb or two in the middle of this ride but rewarded with a lovely glide out to the coast and flat return home. Meet at The Cycle Hub, Newcastle Quayside, NE6 1BU at 08.45m for a 9.00 am prompt depart. There is ample free parking available here. The Hub will be open from 8.30am http://www.thecyclehub.org/ A 30 mile morning jaunt takes us up to Northumberlandia to see the stunning human landform sculpture of a reclining lady. Made of 1.5 million tonnes of rock, clay and soil, she is 100 feet high and a quarter of a mile long. http://www.northumberlandia.com/ We return to The Cycle Hub for lunch. Please bring cash or a packed lunch - you can eat this outside if you purchase a drink. Food and drink at The Cycle Hub is excellent. If you find you're struggling with the ride you can leave us at this point. For those continuing with us after lunch we'll head southwards taking the Tanfield railway cycle path up to The Angel of The North - a fantastic photo opportunity! We head back via Minchella & Co icecream parlour on South Shields seafront for coffee and ices. The last push home takes us along the south side of the River Tyne and over the Millennium Bridge back to The Cycle Hub. This is a mass participation event, and as such you join us at your own risk and will be expected to look out for your own comfort and safety. You will be led by a British Cycling Trained ride leader, but will need to be able to ride confidently on roads and in a group and take care of your own mechanical issues. Please ensure you are dressed for the changeability of the weather. Please bring sufficient cash, snacks, waterbottles, kit, pump, tools, innertubes and anything else you may require for a full day of riding. Please consider how you will get home if you have a mechanical problem you can't fix yourself on the roadside. We will help with punctures, if needed. Please check your bike is roadworthy and bring sufficient lights for evening / poor weather riding, just in case. If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch [email protected]
