Ride over a set course of 8.75 miles against the clock and receive a time in this time trial event incorporated into the Withington Wheelers Cycling Club event. It isn't a race - it's just you and your bike and all you have to do is ride as fast as you can over the distance.
First rider will go off at 7pm so you will want to get there early enough to warm up and sign on. You will be directed to the start line and at your appointed time you will be held up and counted down - then it's just you, the road and as much speed as you can muster! This is a great opportunity for anyone who would like to take their cycling up a gear (excuse the pun!) to see what they can really do, in a friendly and supportive environment.
Afterwards we will all get together in the pub for a drink and some food, so bring some money if you wish to join us.
Road or hybrid bikes are recommended for this event - it really isn't suitable for mountain bikes. A helmet is strongly recommended when time trialling, and you may want to bring clothes to change into after the event (It is possible to do this in the pub toilets). You will definitely need to bring a bottle of water and ideally you will have a bottle cage on your bike.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions and if you would like to take part in some training sessions in conjunction with the club in the weeks before hand. Also have a look here for information on time trials:
