It's almost summer...and very close to the longest day so an evening ride is hard to refuse!
A 21 km (13 mile) ride from Cardiff Bay (meet outside The Senedd) to cycle to Swanbridge for a drink at The Captain's Wife pub where the beer garden has lovely views over the water towards Sully Island.
Cardiff Bay has car parking and toilets etc.
The route has been plotted on Strava
https://www.strava.com/routes/2553884
About a third of the ride is on quiet to moderately busy roads and there are a few hills which CAN be walked. On the day we can decide whether to use a mainly traffic free route instead.
Meet at outside the Senedd and cycle across the barrage, through Penarth Marina, up the zig zags, in to the town centre, along the seafront, pick up the railway path from The Paddocks, cycle through Cosmeston housing estate in to Cosmeston park, cross Lavernock Road and cycle past St Mary's Well Bay, nip through the stile to stop at The Captain's Wife pub at Swanbridge. Leaving here we cycle back along Sully Road, across Redlands Road, down through the Cowslip estate, along Andrew Road, across Cogan station car park, down into Penarth Marina, across Pont y Werin bridge and follow cycle paths back to the Senedd (past the white water centre, the pool and ice rink, over the A4232 bridge, past Techniquest).
Please bring suitable clothing, a big smile, winning attitude, money for emergencies/a drink and an inner tube etc/
