Sutton Bank ride

We will start along the road from the glider site and ride to the A170. There is a choice of route here and we can cross the A road and head to the new gravel track and then to the Sutton Bank visitor centre. If this route looks muddy we can ride down the road (or push along the path) to the visitor centre instead. From there we head towards Cold Kirby. We then head downhill to Old Byland, and then take a very little used road which joins the road from Hawnby to Sneck Gate. We turn left and after a couple of miles take the Cleveland Way to High Paradise Farm. We go back along the gravel track, then along the road to Dialstone Farm and then return to the visitor centre along the cycle track on Sutton Bank edge. After tea and cake we return to the car park.

Route riding quiet roads and gravel tracks around Sutton Bank

Most of the route is on quiet roads, plus there are short sections of off road which are either gravel roads, or well compacted single track. There may be the odd puddle but I would not anticipate much mud. There may be a short section on the A170. The ride is suitable for gravel or hybrid bikes, or mountain bikes.

We will stop at the Sutton Bank visitor cafe near the end of the ride.

Please wear helmets and also bring puncture repair kits.
