Sunday morning jaunt around the Sussex lanes

We will meet at the car park outside the Henfield Cricket Club (nr Swains Farm Shop) on the A281. If you are not able to ride to the start point, there are about a dozen car parking spaces usually available, but the area is popular with dog walkers. After a short distance cycling along the A281, we will soon be on quiet country roads and lanes, passing through some lovely countryside for an 18 mile road ride. Our coffee stop will be The Sportsman pub in Goddards Green at 10 miles. They serve morning tea/coffee and a bacon butty for under £4. A hybrid bike would be ideal for this 18 mile route, but it could be done on a mountain or even a road bike (with tough tyres). You will need to use your gears, as there are a few gentle hills along the way. This ride will be at a leisurely pace and is NOT SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS, however, we will always ride at the pace of the slowest rider and no-one will be left behind. Please give your bike a check over before you leave home, are the tyres pumped up? Are the gears and brakes working properly? Always carry a spare inner tube, puncture repair kit and a pump, just in case. Please come prepared for the weather forecast on the day - a few layers, a lightweight jacket to keep you warm and dry, gloves and good grip on your shoes (plus any medication you may require). Wearing a helmet is advisable.
