Summer Botanical Breeze
Thursday 30th May 6.45pm 9 miles
Start Broompark Picnic Site
Late May is peak time for enjoying some of our most beautiful wild flowers. There’s plenty on our doorstep and especially alongside some of the railway paths. Tonight we will be visiting Bearpark reclamation site which has become a haven for orchids with expert knowledge on hand from Julia and Jay.
We’ll fit most of our 9 mile ride in before arriving at Bearpark. We’ll be mainly on railway paths but with a couple of miles on quiet roads from Broadgate Farm (Lionmouth) up to Ushaw College and down to Langley Park (this is the only hilly bit)
I’d recommend a hybrid bike, but a mountain or road bike with chunkier tyres will also do the job. Please come suitably dressed for the weather conditions.
For any last minute cancellations on the day please text 07795390871 (note this phone is only for the day of the ride) otherwise use the option to cancel when you log in to letsride.co.uk.
In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks, etc. prior to us setting off. Make sure your bike is in working condition and bring a spare tube to fit your tyres. We should be out for about 2 hours but as always it is difficult to be precise about timing.
Hope you can join us for a fun and friendly ride. If you want any more information email us at
[email protected].
