Join us for the annual ride over Harrogate way, another new route for 2024, starting in Harrogate to explore north of the town, Brimham Rocks, Fountains Abbey, Studley Royal Deer Park, a glance of Ripon Cathedral, Knaresborough and Ripley Castle

Leaving the car park we head out on the cycle path into Hornbeam Park, picking anyone up at the Premier Inn that has arrived by train

At the lights it's straight over onto Rayleigh road and onto The Stray, through town and onto Asda for a quick pit stop (powder room break) then its onto the Nidderdale Greenway to Ripley passing over the Nidd Gorge Viaduct, a quick peak at the castle and out on Hollybank lane, then onto Clint, Birstwith, Hartwith, past Brimham Rocks, a short section on B6265 and Risplith for our lunch stop G & T's, a very popular cafe with cyclists and the most delicious cakes

Leaving our stop we head to Sawley, pass Fountains Abbey, cut through the Deer Park, then onto B6265, turning right onto Borrage lane to skirt round Ripon picking up Littlethorpe lane, across A61 and onto Copgrove, Occaney, Farnham, Scriven and Knaresborough, taking a left onto Halfpenny lane, Chain lane, Wetherby road, we turn right onto Abbey road, along the river and under the castle and railway viaduct, turning left over the river at Mother Shiptons, picking up the Beryl Burton Greenway and Bilton lane back to Harrogate, around Chirst Church, the stray and back to our start point

Not the usual hilly ride we are used to, there are climbs but nothing to bad

Timings are an estimate, its a relaxed ride, last year we had a ball

Usual, pennies for food and drink, spare inner tubes etc

Arriving by car: A61 M&S Food, traffic lights, turn right 1.1 miles, as you pass St John Fisher School its 0.4 miles, as pass woods, right onto Hookstone Wood road, follow to right on bend and enter large car park

Arriving by train: there is a foot bridge over railway line on Hookstone road, then right into Hornbeam Park and Premier Inn
