Badcox Carpark, Frome (off Nunney Road)

A slightly more challenging 28 mile ride with the obligatory stop approx half way for coffee & cake. This ride is mix of larger lanes & more major roads - all of which will only have light traffic on a sunday.   Starting from Badcox car park in Frome we will head out to Nunney & then up toward Gare Hill. This hill is fairly challenging but no-one will be left behind & there is no shame in stopping either!   We will then held toward Kilmington & join the main B3092 for a short distance before turning off to the National Trust Stourhead tearooms at Stourton.   After a good rest we will retrace our steps before turning left down the long descent of Druley Hill.  We will then turn off toward Upton Noble before turning off to Witham Friary then Bunns Lane & returning past the Frome Showground on the B3092 & up into Frome through Blatchbridge.   This course is quite undulating & is suitable for those who are cycling fairly regularly & is ideal for those of you who would like to build up fitness & confidence on uphill & downhill sections of roads. From past experience we tend to average 10mph approx on rides. However, riders of all speeds are welcome as long as you are happy to ride at the group pace (which will be governed by the slowest rider).   This is a busier traffic route than usual as the lanes are currently quite hazardous with farm debris & leaves.   You are, of course, welcome to cycle just to the tea rooms & then arrange to be collected from there.   Please remember to bring a well-maintained bike, puncture spares, a waterproof, a drink, a small lock & CAKE MONEY!! Please contact me if you require any more information about the ride.  Looking forward to seeing you all there. Fleur  Note: on risk assessing this ride on 8/11/13 I noticed that the lanes are still quite mucky. If the weather continues to be wet I will run a slightly revised route which is 4 miles shorter which retraces our steps slightly to avoid the worst of the lanes. The rest of the route remains the same.   Garmin ref: http://connect.garmin.com/course/5119323
