*** To book a place on this ride, please contact Charnwood Borough Council direct on 01509 63 4673 or [email protected] *** A free guided family bike ride from Stonehurst Family Farm, Mountsorrel taking a tour of Charnwood Forest, including Swithland Water, Swithland and Rothley. This ride is mostly on quiet roads, with some slightly busier sections. Whilst the route isn’t very long, it includes some fairly long and steep climbs and descents, so we’d not recommend this particular ride for small children on their own bikes, but for slightly older children who are confident cyclists on bicycles with a range of gears. To view the route please visit http://www.gpsies.com/map.do?fileId=hqwrdoshuecqyrhy If in doubt, please contact ride organiser Mat Richardson on [email protected] or 07753 309 559. The ride will be at a steady pace and will be led by friendly and encouraging ride leaders who will ensure that no one gets left behind and will support the group on the road and junctions. The total length of the ride will be 9.5 miles, with an optional break en route for a rest, snack and toilets at Rothley Station, Great Central Railway. Please bring along some money. Meet in the car park at Stonehurst Family Farm off Bond Lane. If driving, you are welcome to park up for free, but we encourage you to cycle to the start if possible. This ride is kindly being supported by Stonehurst Family Farm and we encourage you and your family to enjoy the café and the family farm before or after the ride has finished. We request that children under 5 must be in a BSA approved child seat, trailer or tag-a-long, and that children under 16 wear a cycle helmet. This ride is being delivered by Charnwood Borough Council as a part of the Easter Half Term family activity programme, and as one of at least 15 community bike rides in 2014.
