PLEASE READ ALL BELOW
We all want this ride to go smooth as possible, I have finished planning the route, making it as flat as i can, any big hills early in the ride, worst is the climb up to Throckley which we've all done before. So if everybody is well prepared and reasonably fit along with their bike it will go well. This a serious distance and you will feel it if you don't keep your energy levels up during the ride, drink often, use energy drinks or gels and micro-feeding, remember if you're thirsty it's too late you're already starting to dehydrate. I don't plan to actually lead the ride off the front all the time, please familiarise yourself with the route, download the route from Komoot, Strava or Lets Ride, make notes. I expect people to know roughly where they're going and be able to regroup, or in the worst instance return to base if a major problem, have somebody able to pick you up should you have to return, nobody will be intentionally dropped but wrong turns happen, we will not be racing around, although we will have to set a reasonable pace to avoid returning in the dark, I worked out suitable rest points, please keep any rest breaks short as possible, around 20-30 minutes. first stop 30 miles out is Kirkley cycles, Ponteland
Second and main stop will be the Drift Inn at Creswell, approximately 60 miles out. Third stop The Waterford Arms, Seaton Sluice approximately 80 miles out. We will be passing the Newcastle Cycle Hub, which will probably be shut, as will Peddling Squares. To make sure you get your hundred mile, don't cross the millennium bridge we have to travel down the North side of the Tyne to the Scotswood Bridge, otherwise you won't get your hundred mile and will have to do circles in the car park to make it up
