Join us on some amazing rides, created in association with our friends at the National Trust. Make the most of some beautiful countryside, and great facilities for cyclists. Not cycled for a while and looking for an easy way to get back in the saddle? Fancy a fun way to get your friends or kids riding? Our Easygoing rides are great for building confidence for all abilities and ages along relaxed, mostly traffic-free routes. They’re up to six miles long, with a gentle pace of around six miles an hour. We’ve teamed up with the National Trust and the Keswick Mountain Festival to bring you a special bike ride along Keswick’s old railway line. Trains have long since stopped running on the line and it’s been resurfaced to make a superb traffic free walking and cycling route.  Along the way look out for the old station platform, bridges and tunnels, along with lots of activities from the National Trust’s list of 50 things to do before you’re 11 and ¾!  This ride is perfect for families and people wanting an easygoing ride, at a leisurely pace. Bike Hire Bikes are available to hire from Keswick Leisure Centre, which is adjacent to the start point. Please call 017687 72760 in advance to reserve a bike. * Please do not use the postcode with a Sat Nav to find the start point. It will take you close to the area where the ride starts, but it is likely to take you to Station Road, which cannot be used to access the start area. The parking should be accessed from Brundholme Road and Station Avenue. We’ve heard whispers that acclaimed outdoor film maker, Terry Abraham, will join us on the Stations and Tunnels guided ride from Keswick on Saturday at 2pm. We hope that Terry will be filming Sky Ride Local participants cycling along the old railway line from Keswick to Threlkeld for his new film, “Life of a Mountain: Blencathra.” The film is a follow up to last year’s spectacular “Life of a Mountain, A Year on Scafell Pike.” You don’t need to say anything/be interviewed, simply ride your bike and have fun taking part in the ride! More information on Terry’s new project is available here: http://terrybnd.blogspot.co.uk/ If you don’t wish to be filmed please inform the Ride Leader at the start of the ride or consider booking on to a different ride.
