This ride is for regular riders who are able to keep up with the pack, I expect the average speed to be approx 12mph so although not high speed the title should give you a clue that this is not a flat easy ride.
For regular riders this will be a pleasant ride with wonderful scenery some photographic opportunities, you will enjoy the pleasure of cycle trail, cycle paths, Single track, canal banks, tow paths, roads, roundabouts, bridges, hills and cycle rails? Yes “rails”
The destination is Stanley Ferry Cafe, who have agreed to open for this bank holiday special ride, so Im hoping for a good turnout. The Cafe have a vast menu, the food is good quality and its probable the cheapest cafe I’ve ever been in.
The outward route will be via the NCN Route 62 and 67 via Wombwell, Stairfoot, Lundwood, Carlton, Royston, Cold Hiendley Res, Walton Colliery Nature Reseve, Heath, Kirkthorpe and then following the Aire & Calder Navigational Canal to Stanley Ferry.
For the return Journey we follow the route back to Cold Hiendley Res, then take to the road and cycle paths.
