This is approximately a 50 mile ride to Southport and return. A shorter version can be done by either starting with the group and cycling to Southport and taking a chance of getting back by train (or bribe someone to pick you up) or get to Southport by hook or by crook and join the group (lunch optional) to do the return leg (this way will be slightly harder as we will tackle the ascent of Parbold Hill) . I promise a stop at the top of PH for ice cream or something stronger. The route is slightly different from the one displayed but is roughly the return route with a slightly different outward bound and start point
