How to get to the New Forest from Southampton!

After many requests, this ride is approx 20mile there and back route to Lyndhurst in the New Forest. Starting from Southampton Common, we will head out towards Redbridge and join the NCN236 - an easy route which follows mainly cycle paths. Because it is an NCN route - it is an easy route to find again! We will head out to Lyndhurst where we shall stop for refreshments, before returning to Southampton Common.

I would advise bringing a cycle lock to secure your bicycle if we are not able to sit outside. Please make sure you bring a drink with you and wear clothing suitable for the weather on the day. Please carry a spare inner tube to fit your tyre and check your bike is in suitable condition to ride. It will be a mix of cycle paths and a few roads which tend to be on the quieter side. We may be riding during daytime, but it is advisable to have lights if the morning is misty.

This is a gentle paced ride and no one will get left behind. Times are approximate depending on pace and how long we chat for on our stop! Any concerns or questions about the route, please contact ride leader Jenny :)

Want to learn how to cycle into the New Forest using cycle paths and following the NCN236 so you can easily follow the route again.

We will cycle on roads, but it will be mostly cycle paths or shared use spaces.

We will stop in Lyndhurst for refreshments, and maybe get a group photo at Boltons Bench to remember our adventure!

Don't forget money for brunch/lunch at refreshment stop and a lock incase we cannot sit outside with our bikes.

We never leave anyone behind
