Starting from - south gosforth from outside the sky sign and the chinese takeaway right on the side of the mini roundabouts, plenty of free parking around here for thoase driving to the start! We travel due east on the waggonway from the roundabouts picking up a couple of other tracks that take us stright into the rising sun country park, a traverse of that to the car park to the start of the organised ride (participate in that) and then take in the hill if all interested before picking up a track back to gosforth, almost all off road on gravel/dry mud and tarmac. With a rising sun ride arranged for sunday afternoon i am planning a trip off road from the mini roundabouts in south gosforth, along the waggonways to get to the rising sun park, participating in the bc ride arranged for 2pm (i am the ride leader) before enjoying a little more of the rising sun and hopping back onto the waggonways back to south gosforth. Total distance of around 15 miles which includes the 3 miles of the organised ride (don't forget to sign up to the rising sun ride elsewhere on this website so that we have the numbers right for the event) which runs at around 6mph for the 3 miles, we'll move a little more swiftly on the trip there and back but always at the pace of the slowest rider! This is pretty straight forward, no big hills (unless you want to at the rising sun!), almost entirely traffic free on the waggonways and bridleaways in the area.
