We begin along the proposed Primrose Line then cycle to Harbertonford for a break beside the river. We continue into the Sharpham Estate and along the river Dart to Totnes for lunch. When we leave we travel through the Dartington Estate and stop to look at the historical gardens and house. We then pick up the proposed Dart Valley cycle way towards Buckfastleigh and have a stop at a Staverton Railway Station for a cuppa if the buffet car is open. We continue along through Riverford and return via Buckfastleigh and the NCN 2.

Route rating

0 stars (0) Reviews

A ride through the South Hams along some planned new cycle paths and across country parks along the River Dart to Totnes. We return along the planned Dart Valley Cycle trail through Buckfastleigh and along the NCN2

95% of the route is quiet country lanes or along the National cycle network. There are some steep gradients and scenic views.

Although this route is 28 mls we will stop 3 times to refuel including a takeaway cafe in Totnes.

A packed lunch or snacks is useful although there are places to buy coffee or tea & pastries. A rain jacket, helmet, money, inner tube and pump are useful as well as a mobile phone.

We never leave anyone behind
