A mix of quiet, (potholed) country lanes, with a few main roads to connect where necessary. A challenging route at times with some short climbs, but it's never a race. But plenty of flat sections and downhills too.

A very pretty ride taking in the best of the Beech Woods and Bluebells around the Chiltern Valleys.(see how I didn't mention hills!) We start at Sonning Common with a gradual climb through Checkendon and Nuffield, with a few photo stops of course. It flattens out for a while continuing to Cookley Green. Then through the pretty village of Russell’s Water, dropping down steeply into Stonor Valley. A climb next up to Northend, to enjoy another steep drop into the beautiful village of Turville. A flat ride along the Hambleden Valley to an early lunch at The Frog at Skirmett at 21 miles. The remainder of the route is very flat over the weir and then across the Thames into Henley, through Harpsden Valley, with just one final climb back to the start .

Early lunch stop around noon at The Frog at Skirmet. Sandwiches, or hot starters available, as well as main course if you wish.

Cycle helmets are compulsory. Please check your bike the night before, chain oiled, tyres fully inflated (makes it easier!), and always carry a spare inner tube suitable for your tyre size.
