This is a flatter route again on the whole but the distance increases to 45 miles an increase of 10 miles building up endurance for the last ride in the series.
We leave Eccleston and head out through Parbold and Burscough with a few inclines. The route will level out after this and heads over to the seaside at Ainsdale, where we will take a rest stop. We head along the coast to Southport and back inland via the quieter villages of west lancashire.

Ride number 5 in the Sofa to Sportive series.A seaside trip from Eccleston to Southport and Ainsdale

Mostly B roads with some stretches on busier A roads and quieter lanes and villages

We will take a refreshment stop at the half way point. Other rest stops as needed..

Helmets are needed for this ride and you will not be able to ride without one. Basic repair kit for your bike, spare inner tube and pump/tyre levers. Any snacks you may require for energy and water or something to drink as this is a longer ride than the previous 4.

As previously described this is the first in the Sofa to Sportive 2024 series. These will all be road rides and you are required to have a road bike to take part. The series will start with 20 to 30 mile rides and fairly flat routes. These will progress to more mileage and elevation per week. These rides are intended to build up stamina and endurance with the intention of taking part in a road sportive in the summer months.
