Roadside side parking outside the Strickland Arms Pub / main entrance to Sizergh Castle. From Kendal, A591, take Barrow-in-Furness turning, A590 and follow brown signs for Sizergh Castle.

From Sizergh we cycle through Brigsteer Park to Brigsteer, then head onto the A5074. We cycle 2.5 miles along this very quiet A road before returning to the lanes which take us to Bowland Bridge. We will have a brief stop here, (the local shop sells nice cakes if some refuelling is required!). From here we then head to Cowmire Hall, then south to Witherslack where we pick up Sustrans route 72 back to the start. It is hilly route in places but will be taken at a slow pace so no one will be left behind. I plan to have lunch at Sizergh Barn Tea Rooms, a short bike ride from the cars. Please bring a waterproof, drink, snacks and an inner tube, (even if you have no idea what to do with it!).
