Sizergh Castle

Sky Ride Local to celebrate new extensions to the Lake District National Park On the 1st of August the Lake District National Park is expanding and we will be celebrating with a birthday ride in the new parts of the National Park! The route will start at Sizergh Castle, a stunning site managed by the National Trust, and will then take in beautiful scenery around the villages of Brigsteer and Levens. There is an excellent café at the Castle open to the public from 10-5 daily, free parking and toilets. Click on Lake District National Park extensions for more information. http://www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/caringfor/policies/boundaryextension The route does encounter a very steep but short hill at the start but then gently rolls through pretty villages like Brigsteer and Levens. There is also some very flat riding on the plains of the Lyth Valley (famous for its Damsons) with a good chance of seeing some coastal wildlife. But don't forget to save some energy to tackle that hill to get back to the starting point. Keep thinking of cafe rewards to get you to the end!
