Join us on some amazing rides, created in association with our friends at the National Trust. Make the most of some beautiful countryside, and great facilities for cyclists.
If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.
Sizergh Castle is a lovely setting for the start of the route as there is the castle to visit (National Trust) with a free car park, cafe and toilets. There are many walks to do in the area. The route does encounter a very steep but short hill at the start but then gently rolls through pretty villages like Brigsteer and Levens. There is also some very flat riding on the plains of the Lyth Valley (famous for its Damsons) with a good chance of seeing some coastal wildlife. But don't forget to save some energy to tackle that hill to get back to the starting point. Keep thinking of cafe rewards to get you to the end!
