Riding along the old Sirhowy Valley railway route which is now tarmac and generally flat. A short gradient paralleling the A472 and over Maesycwmmer viaduct taking us past Penallta Park. Straddling the railway line and then on to the Taff river and finally the cafe. Please note that the cafe is card payment only no cash accepted .

This is all cycle track apart from a few road crossings. Route 47 and route 476 of the national cycle route. A couple of moderate gradients on the way. Approximately 22 miles in total. At the summit centre is a nice roomy cafe selling sweet and savoury food. The coffee is especially good.

Cycle track only mostly flat.

We will be riding parallel to the Taff river on a small part of the journey and can stop for photos if you wish and then it’s only about a mile to the cafe. This is a ‘there and back route’ rather than a circular one.

Helmets are mandatory. Waterproof, water and spare inner tube if possible are recommended.

First-timers welcome!
