A 15 mile cycle from Dalkeith Country Park to Inveresk, to Wallyford (passing the Pinkie Cleugh Battle site), onto the road again to Prestonpans and then to the coastal shared path to Musselburgh and back by the River Esk to the Park for our picnic. 14th June is the date for the She Pedals Scotland campaign to encourage women and girls to get on their bike that day.

We will be cycling on a mix of shared paths, quieter roads and a couple of shortish sections on busier roads. On the shared paths we will likely pass walkers, dogs and horses and maybe tiny humans on balance bikes, so please stay safe and keep other users safe.

We will stop for the picnic when we get back to Dalkeith Country Park, however there will be opportunity for mini stops to take in the views, to catch our breath and have a drink.

Please bring the following with you: Bike in good and safe working order and well maintained, a helmet, spare inner-tube / puncture repair kit, layers (including a waterproof incase of rain), card or cash payment if you want to buy anything at the Restoration Yard. We don't leave anyone behind but if you find yourself in a position of being unable to continue with the ride for any reason, for example in the event of a puncture / mechanical that cannot be fixed at the roadside, then you need a plan for getting back home. And of course you will need a water bottle or two, some snacks for the picnic, plus a rug or mat, sunscreen (we can hope!) and loads of chat!

First-timers welcome!
