The route will take us from Shap, down past Keld chapel and onto a road only used by local residents, (its not even marked on the 1:100,000 map), however as a consequence it is rather rough in places. We eventually come out by Naddle Bridge over by the bottom end of Hawsewater. From here we head to Bampton where we make a steep ascent upto High Hullockhowe and then down to Heltondale. We pass through Helton before turning south passing Whale where we follow knipe Scar to Bampton Grange. We then take another lane through Bomby to Rosgill, another steep ascent then takes us back to Rosgill Head and onto Shap. This route would be possible on a road bike with a fair bit of caution on the rougher bits. There are quite a few cattle grids, two of which I will be advising people to walk over - these obstacles aside this is a great ride in a remote area that has very little traffic. The ride will be taken at a slow pace so no one will be left behind. Please bring a waterproof, snacks a drink and a spare inner tube, (even if you have no idea what to do with it!) We will end with a well deserved lunch in the tea room in Shap
