This is THURSDAY’S ride and has some hills to challenge all but the best riders.

Leaving our start point at Yelverton bus stop we head out to Walkhampton, Horrabridge and Sampford Spiney on the way to Tavistock. From there we climb through Lamerton to Carr's garage then turn north. More country lanes out to our lunch stop. Our return is via the climb at Chillaton and the superb descent of Lower Chaddlehanger. Finally we follow the Drake's trail back to our start point.

It's all about the hills. Lots of undulations and two notable climbs. But lots of opportunities to test your descending skills.

Almost all the ride is on Devon's lovely country lanes. Make no mistake though, this is summer and there could be some traffic about on some of them. Road bike or hybrids fitted with road tyres would be best for this ride.

We shall stop at the top of the major climbs to ensure the group stays together, and at Lifton farm shop for a bite of lunch.

Usual rules apply. Helmets are mandatory, as is a spare inner tube/tools and, even though it's daytime there are lots of trees, bring your light. Snacks and plenty of fluids are a necessity also.

We never leave anyone behind
