Starting point

RG45 7PT

First Ride: Wellington College Sports Centre (off Wellington Business Park & Dukes Ride) - not the main college entrance!

These rides are aimed at confident road cyclists. They are intended to be challenging in terms of terrain and pace. The average speed is expected to be 12-14mph and distance between 20-30 miles. We will be using busier roads, so you must be comfortable cycling in fast moving traffic. First Ride is a nice circular, hilly 30 miler. We'll start at Wellington College Sports Centre (off Wellington Business Park), turn left onto Dukes Ride, up over the Ridges (via Wellington Ave). Right to Church lane & White Horse Lane. Left onto Nine Mile Ride & left to Park Lane. Right onto the A327 Reading road and then we climb Farley Hill - left to Church Rd & Bunglers Hill. Where there is an up there is a down - a nippy downhill onto Swallowfield Road & Church Rd. Sharpe left to Park lane then right to School lane & right onto Mill lane where we skirt to the outside of Wellington Country Park. We turn left onto B3349 Odiham road & left at the roundabout to the B3011 then a hidden right to Laundry lane (a quiet gem, underused road so a little gravelly). Now we turn left and then right off B3349 onto (a road with no name!) then eventually left onto Chandlers Green & Bottle lane. Right & then Left across the B3349 again to Dipley Road & West Green Road and into Hartley Wintney. Coffee stop will be at St John's Church & coffee shop. At this point we would have covered 2/3rds of the ride. Going back we'll pick up West Green Road, taking a right to Stoke Lane and left onto Hazeley Bottom. It is undulating on the way back as we head right onto Red Hill until we reach the Shoulder of Mutton pub. We cross the B3011 here to Plough lane. A few cheeky hills until we turn left at the end onto the Bramshill Road and then we'll take a left past St Neots school. We'll need to dismount briefly to cross the ford via a foot path. We then continue via New Mill lane & Park lane until we turn right on to Nine Mile Ride. We take another right back up White Horse lane, past Finchampstead Church (another climb!) and onto Church road. At the end we have a tricky section where we turn left and then need to make a right to get back over the Ridges. Then lovely ladies, you a rewarded with a fantastic downhill on a newly tarmac road, over the roundabout and back to the Wellington Sports Centre. All rides will be group rides, so no drop and we will treat ourselves to a coffee & cake. Please bring a spare inner tube & pump, bike lock, water, money for the cafe and wear suitable layers for the weather (you may need sun block!)
