About the route
Beginning and finishing at the Cycle Hub on Newcastle Quayside this circular ride take us from Tyneside to Wearside. Via Barley Mow in Birtley we meander down to Roker then follow the coast to South Shields to catch the ferry (£1:50 toll) before heading back to the Hub on Hadrian's Cycleway. A stop for a lite lunch is planned so bring some pennies. You will need to be relatively fit not an elite cyclist but competent on a bike.
