As it's nearly Christmas, I will wear my Santa Onesie :) Please don't feel you have to, but if anyone else would like to get in the festive mood by wearing and/or decorating your bikes with anything "Christmassy" then please do. A goody bag for everyone coming along. (I have pencilled in Saturday 20th December (same time) as a reserve date for this festive ride in my diary if the weather is rubbish on the 14th Dec) Our destination will be the cafe in the lovely “Art Deco” airport building in Shoreham. The route is mainly off-road, with a few farm tracks and quiet roads to negotiate. Sections of the original railway line were sold off or developed when it was closed, so the cycle route has been diverted across farmland and through some quiet residential areas. This steady paced ride is just less than 18 miles and is NOT SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS, however, we will always ride at the pace of the slowest rider and no-one will be left behind. After time to warm up, have a cuppa and a few calories, we will retrace our route back to the start point.                                                        ******* As we cross the South Downs there are some hilly sections with loose gravel. This ride is only suitable for mountain bikes or hybrids with knobbly tyres. Please give your bike a check over before you leave home, are the tyres pumped up? Are the gears and brakes working properly? Always carry a spare inner tube, puncture repair kit and a pump, just in case. Please come prepared for the weather forecast on the day - a few layers, a lightweight jacket to keep you warm and dry, gloves and good grip on your shoes (plus any medication you may require). Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please do not to worry, you can still take part. If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then. If you have any questions please text : 07931 703953 or email : [email protected]
