Sankey Brook Meander to Carr Mill Dam

The route leaves Bewsey and follows a traffic-free route through Sankey Valley. Bypassing Winwick and Earlestown the scenery is contrasted with relics of the industrial past. At Blackbrook we enter Sankey Park and follow the meandering paths alongside babbling brooks to then gradually climb to the dam and our cafe stop

Our popular ride to Carr Mill Dam is back! A flattish out-and-back ride through Sankey Valley, alongside the St. Helens Canal. Great scenery throughout and a great cafe stop, overlooking the the Dam and an opportunity to get a coffee and cake for the return ride. The ride passes through lovely scenery, mixing nature with the architecture and relics of past industrial times..

Mostly off-road on flat grit and tarmac surfaces. The path gradually rises to meet the quiet access road to the cafe, which we use briefly.

There are lots of places to stop enroute and our cafe destination has toilets and places to lock your bike,

Helmets are mandatory if U-18 years and recommended for all. Warm layered clothing, particularly gloves, hats A basic tool kit, Pump, spare inner-tube, puncture outfit or sealant Bicycle Lock, Mobile phone (with charge) money or card, if purchasing drinks. please remember some smaller cafe's only accept cash payments
