A fully guided ride. We leave the library and pass through Woodland at the rear of Westbrook shopping area. We then head towards Mary Anne meadows again re-enter the woodland that brings us out near to McDonalds. The group will then use the segregated cycle path and follow it to Sankey High School and leisure centre . At all times we will cross at designated traffic-light controlled junctions and remain on the cycle path to gain Whittle Brook park, where left to contour the brook on paths to Barrow Hall Lane. Once across Barrow Hall Ln, we re-enter whittle brook and follow the meandering path to Warrington West Station. Beyond this we continue to Burtonwood Road and cycle-friendly paths that lead to Sankey Valley Park. Once in the park, we head north past the Maltings and Dallam Lock, where further on a left turn follows the Northern perimeter of Gullivers World Them Park. At Cromwell Avenue the group will then cycle or walk over high level Red Bridge to that returns us back to Westbrook Library.

Route rating

A circular scenic cycle ride through woodland and on cycle paths away from traffic.

Mostly segregated cycle paths on flat terrain. Only a very short section of road is used to access cycle-friendly paths. The terrain has some off road sections through woodland and the speed will be reduced in these areas.

Stops can be made along the route if people want to stop and take photographs.

Helmets are mandatory if under 18 and British Cycling recommend helmets should be worn at all times. Suitable clothing and footwear for the weather. Gloves should also be packed. A basic tool kit, spare inner tube, puncture outfit. `Mobile phone. Bike lock (for outside the library)

First-timers welcome!
