Starting from - Start:
Dalkeith High School / Community Campus (first left at the traffic lights heading East after Aldi's) and just at the start of the large car park area within the school grounds (near the Sustans sign). Postcode EH22 2PS.
Car parking (if you need to bring a car) can be ok within the school grounds but not always so please plan in advance. There is parking nearby in local housing estate. As it's a week day the car park may be busy but you can also park at Sainsbury's and cycle along to the meeting point. There are toilets in the campus if needed (but please allow time for that so we can leave sharp at 9.30am). EH22 2PS

A twenty mile undulating circuit (with a few hills especially at the beginning) out to the Saltouns, starting at Dalkeith High School and heading south to Cousland, bypassing Ormiston, past the Glenkinchie road entrance, onwards to West Saltoun and then returning to Pencaitland (all on roads) and then picking up the Old Pencaitland Railway shared path, stopping off at Hoods Honey for refreshments and then back to the start. This route has 1079' of ascent (equivalent to about 3x round Arthurs Seat).

A twenty mile circuit out to the Saltouns via road and back by the Old Pencaitland Railway shared path.

We will be cycling on a mix of main roads and quieter road and also shared paths. On the shared paths we will likely pass walkers, dogs and horses and maybe tiny humans on balance bikes, so please stay safe and keep other users safe.

We will stop at Hoods Honey on the way back (at about 14 mile point)

Please bring the following with you: Bike in good and safe working order and well maintained, a helmet, spare inner-tube / puncture repair kit, a bike lock if you have one, layers (including a waterproof incase of rain), card or cash payment if you want to buy anything at our café stop. We don't leave anyone behind but if you find yourself in a position of being unable to continue with the ride for any reason, for example in the event of a puncture / mechanical that cannot be fixed at the roadside, then you need a plan for getting back home. And of course you will need a water bottle, some snacks just incase we dont stop for coffee (for what ever reason) and loads of chat!

We never leave anyone behind
