This ride is for all those thinking about, or already signed up to the Saints Foundation Bike Bike Challenge 2017, or those who are just looking for a longer ride with like-minded cyclists.
More information about this 2-day charity cycle ride if interested is here:

This ride is the same starting off as the December 4th ride with an extended loop. This is intended as a ride that would suit those building up their cycling fitness towards the challenge, and equally, we'd really like anyone thinking about doing the ride to join us even if you already ride faster/longer - to find out more about the Challenge or just to meet some other participants and the Ride Leaders.
We are aiming to cover the route in less than 2.5 hours including brief stops so that is 12-15mph. If you're currently riding a hybrid but would be comfortable riding at this distance/pace then definitely come along! There is also a shorter/steadier ride available from 10am you also have the option to sign up to that group instead to assess your pace. Or if you normally ride faster/further, just put an extra layer on and come along and be social!
If you've not yet done a lot of miles and have any concerns, please do contact Jim one of the Ride Leaders on
[email protected] to answer your queries or concerns - we really want as many riders to join us as possible, but also enjoy the ride!
The Route: This will be circular route from St Marys Stadium. We go over the Itchen Bridge, through Bitterne and out to West End. We'll pass closely by The Ageas Bowl before heading out on country lanes to Horton Heath, and on to Lower Upham and through Upham towards Kilmerston, before returning back to Southampton via Durley, Botley, Hedge End, Woolston and over the Itchen Bridge back to St Marys Stadium.
Optional one mile ride to Mettricks Coffee shop in Guildhall Square for post ride refreshments and chat.
The stadium is on National Cycle Route 23 and approx 1.5 miles from Southampton Train Station. If you need to come by car and want to park at the Stadium, please park in the NORTH car park. This is pay and display and sometimes only takes coins!
See you there! Jim
