Saddle up to Saltaire

This nine mile long route starts and finishes at Apperley Bridge in Shipley and follows the Leeds and Liverpool Canal west towards the World Heritage site of Saltaire, the model village and factory of philanthropic industrialist Titus Salt. En route, the route passes Esholt, location of ITV's long running drama Emmerdale Farm. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the canal - narrowboats and waterfowl abound along this marvel of the Industrial Revolution. Once at Saltaire, you can rest and refuel in one of its many cafes before retracing your steps along the traffic-free towpath back to Apperley Bridge.
