A beautiful ride up an exquisite river valley, then the "mother' of all hill climbs up to the exposed heather clad moorland, with breathtaking panoramic views. We pass The Roast Ox Inn in Painscastle, so we maybe duty bound to stop to take refreshment? Afterwards we have the "great Aunt" of all climbs to contest with, until we reach the final high point and descend back down to Cwmbach. Thankfully it's then fairly flat, with just one smallish hill to test us before we reach Boughrood.
