Route Description
This loop features mostly quiet roads and scenic cycle paths, with a mix of tarmac and minor roads. We’ll begin by heading out of Roslin, past the former Oatslie Sand Quarry, then along Glencorse Cemetery and through Bush Estate, known for its peaceful rural setting and veterinary hospitals. After crossing a brief section of the A703 at Damhead and passing the historic Old Pentland Cemetery, we’ll head toward Straiton.

On the return leg, we’ll pick up a traffic-free cycle path near IKEA/Sainsbury’s that leads us back to Roslin via the old railway path. This route includes a crossing over the Bilston Glen viaduct, which offers impressive views over a deep ravine and passes by the Battle of Rosslyn memorial.

If you are a visitor to Roslin, you may like to pay a visit the Rosslyn Chapel, Rosslyn Castle, or enjoy the lovely walks in the Roslin Glen while you are here before or after the ride.
