Starting point

Midlothian

From the meeting point in Roseburn cycle along the paths to the Union canal at the Fountainbridge basin and turn right to take the canal path along to the turn-off for Colinton Dell.
Then cycle trough Colinton Dell, by the Water of Leith until reaching Kirkgate, the route then leaves the path at this point and joins the road for short section to the coffee stop.
After the stop it is quiet roads through the Currie housing estates to Currie Hill Rd and into the Heriot Watt Campus.
The route then joins the canal path off Gogar Station Road and continues to Fountainbridge, from here head back to Roseburn on the new paths, then Russell Road back to the starting point.

Route rating

Lovely cycle along the paths through Saughton and Colinton Dell by the Water of Leith, returning via Heriot Watt campus and the canal path.

A great deal of this route is traffic free with a few short sections of roads that are usually quiet at this time of day.

The coffee stop will be at the Corner Cafe in Currie.

Helmets are strongly advised, wear clothing appropriate for the weather and it's always a good idea to bring waterproofs. Also bring a means of payment if you wish to buy a refreshment at the stop, bring spare inner tubes should the unthinkable happen and a bike lock if you have one.
