Starting point

BL7 9LT

Turton School Main entrance. (Parking available on the school car park )

This is the first in a series of rides through the summer aiming to build road cycling confidence and ability. The route starts at the main entrance of Turton High School (parking is available on the school car park for the duration of the ride if space is at a premium parking is also available on Chapletown Road adjacent to the train line) from the school we will travel along the undulating Chapletown Road passing Turton Tower and then take a left onto High Street passing St Anne's church and the Chetham Arms pub. We'll then follow Greens Arms Road taking in views of Wayoh and Entwistle reservoirs. The road continues to undulate gently until we meet up with Blackburn Road and can enjoy the long predominantly downhill journey back to our starting point. The entire route is c8 miles and the ride should take 1.5 to 2 hours. We are running this as a series with an aim to increasing road riding skills and confidence and also our ability to tackle hills. We cannot guarantee your speed will increase over the series as like all Breeze rides we will always cycle at the pace of the slowest rider, but we can guarantee lots of fun and laughter You do not have to commit to all rides in the series, dip in and out on the dates that work for you, but the more you can join the more you will hopefully see an improvement. There won't be a cafe stop for cake, however please remember to bring a drink as we can stop for a quick rest and drink. Helmets must be worn by all under 18s regardless of ride level and are strongly suggested for all riders. Please bring equipment with you to repair punctures, Ride Leaders are there to help but are not responsible for your bikE. FUTURE RIDES IN THE SERIES Ride 1 - 7 June Ride 2 - 21 June Ride 3 - 5 July Further dates TBA
