Starting at Hugh’s Restaurant in Burnside, we head out to through Rutherglen and cross the Clyde at the Cuningar Loop footbridge. We follow the Clyde Walkway into Glasgow and cross the Clyde again at the Govan Bridge by the Riverside Museum. From there we follow a cycle route on roads to Pollok Park and then on to Newlands Park where we stop at the café. From there we’ll take our usual route back through Cathcart and Kings Park to return through Croftfoot to Burnside.
This is described as an Easy-going ride. We will go at the speed of the slowest. This is not the route for you if you are looking for a fast road ride.

I describe this route as a leisure ride. We will not be going fast and the speed will be set by the slowest rider. It tries to avoid busy roads and make use of cycle paths as much as possible. We leave and finish at Hugh’s Restaurant, 270 Stonelaw Road in Burnside. The route takes us out to Rutherglen, through Cuningar Loop and on to NCN 75 (National Cycle Network route 75) on the Clyde Walkway. We follow NCN 75 through to the Riverside Museum and cross the Govan Bridge. We then head for Pollok Park and on to Newlands Park for a coffee stop. We then return to Burnside. You can view the route in detail at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/48885919

The route follows mainly roads identified as a cycle route or on quiet roads. Some of the on-road route is urban so please give parked cars a wide berth. The first mile and a bit is on a busy ‘A’ road but we can avoid this if riders want to.

We will stop at the Dandelion Café in Newlands Park. Their Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/dandelioncafeG43/ If anyone sees something they'd like to stop and look at, we'll stop.

This is Scotland and as we all know, the weather can be ‘variable’. Please check the forecast before leaving and come prepared. If the weather looks to be really terrible, the ride is likely to be cancelled.

First-timers welcome!
