EH4 2BH

A gentle paced, scenic route along paths and quiet roads with lovely woodland, riverside and sea views.

We head west towards Davidsons Mains and Barnton making use of traffic free paths and quiet streets. Crossing to Cammo Meadows we'll make our way around the estate paths and green spaces to Cramond Brig where we'll pause to take in the views before joining the lovely woodland path beside the River Almond.
We turn uphill along a lane at Peggy's Mill (it's ok to walk this bit) then there's a short section on Whitehouse Road before turning down School Brae to rejoin the Almond walkway.

A short detour takes us along to a view of the Cramond Falls then we'll make our way back along the riverside to Cramond where we can stop for refreshments and a comfort break.

From Cramond we'll head along to Silverknowes to rejoin the Blackhall path back to the start.

If the weather is kind we can enjoy an outdoor refreshment stop for coffee and/or ice cream at Cramond so bring method of payment for this or bring your own drinks and snacks if you prefer.
If it's not so kind, we can divert to take shelter in an indoor cafe!

Half of the route is on well-surfaced cycle paths. The riverside paths and woodland tracks are hard-packed but we will need to be mindful of tree roots in places.
There are three main roads to cross but we do this at traffic lights.

Helmets are recommended. It's a good idea to carry a spare inner tube or two and any tools necessary to remove your wheels should you encounter a sharp object. A strategy for getting yourself home along with your bike is also a good idea (eg friend/taxi/insurance). Just in case.
