Rising Sun over the Blinking Eye and through the Tyne Tunnel

Start at the Rising Sun Country Park car park Countryside Centre NE12 9SS

Join us for a Tyneside adventure using a mix of off and on road routes. Starting from the Rising Sun Country Park in Benton we’ll head south westwards via Heaton to the Millennium Bridge. We’ll cross to the south side of the river and pedal downstream via Bill Quay and Hebburn to the pedestrian/cycle tunnel through which we’ll cross back over the river. Once on the north side we’ll head up through Howdon and Holycross and return to the Rising Sun. Will be about time for a cuppa/lunch by then!

The ride is most suitable for hybrid bikes but any bike should manage it.

In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks, etc. prior to us setting off. Please make sure your bike is in working condition and bring a spare tube to fit your tyres. We may be out for up to 4 hours plus time for a cuppa after.

As always we can’t predict the weather so please dress suitably. You are better to be overdressed as you can always take layers off.

If the weather is bad we will only contact you if we are cancelling the ride and will do so no later than 8am on the day by putting a message in the ‘conversation’ tab in the ride. You should receive a notification by email if there is a message. If you have not heard from us we are still riding.
