Join us on some amazing rides, created in association with our friends at the National Trust. Make the most of some beautiful countryside, and great facilities for cyclists. If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour. We’ve teamed up with the National Trust and the Keswick Mountain Festival to bring you an exclusive bike ride to Force Crag Mine. The ride will start from the Keswick Mountain Festival event village in Crow Park, on the shores of the beautiful Derwent Water. From there you’ll head out of Keswick through Portinscale towards the picturesque village of Braithwaite, where you’ll join the traffic free path to Force Crag mine. The ride includes a short tour of the mine workings with a National Trust ranger and a rare opportunity to go inside the Mine buildings. Force Crag Mine was the last working mineral mine in the Lake District, mining for lead, barites and zinc from 1835 to 1991. Bike Hire Bikes are available for hire from Keswick Bikes (www.keswickbikes.co.uk). Please call 017687 75202 to book a bike in advance and collect from the shop on the day of the ride.                        ©National Trust
