Ride to Durham

This ride takes us to visit the historic city of Durham. Starting from Wynyard Woodland Park, we go directly north up the Castle Eden Walkway along NCN 1 all the way to Haswell, where we turn west to join NCN 14, which takes us through Sherburn and Gilesgate all the way into Durham City Centre. A break here (and a visit to see the Cathedral) before completing the return journey in reverse. Start:- Wynyard Woodland Park Ride level:- 5 (BLACK) Terrain:- A varied route on roads and cycleways, with a few small climbs in and around Durham, flat but a little rough on the old railway lines of the Castle Eden Walkway.
