This ride is a Challenge 40+ ride Do you have a road bike? Do you have a basic repair kit and spare inner tube to fix any punctures or carry out minor repairs if needed? Are you comfortable cycling 30 miles+ at an average speed of 13-15mph? If the answer to ALL of these is YES, then this ride should be perfect for you! If not, why not think about trying some of our 'Steady' or shorter 'Challenging' rides first so you can build your confidence and fitness?

We will be cycling out from o/s Northwood Hills Tube station. cycling out to Ruislip Harefield Maple Cross on to Moor Park . A short 18 mile road cycle non stop We will be cycling cycling 11-12 mph Starting outside Northwood Hills Tube Station ( met line ) You should have already been cycling regularly in some capacity and be confident cycling on suburban and countryside roads. You should be familiar with your bike, its set-up and be confident riding it. You should have a moderate level of fitness and be capable of riding the 40 miles with some hills. What to bring: You must wear a helmet to take part. Bring a spare inner tubes, tools and a pump. Bring a couple of snacks and a bottle of water to keep you going. Bring money/cash card for the cafe stop or in case of an emergency (you might be in a situation where you need to get a train or taxi home so, bring enough cash or your cash card.) Ideally you should be able to stuff all your things into jersey pockets or a saddle bag. Please aim to travel light. Preparation: Your road bike must be in a good and roadworthy condition. Check your wheels are true, that your gears shift reliably and your brakes work correctly. Ensure your tyres are inflated to the correct pressure. Under-inflated tyres risk being punctured more easily. Other stuff: All riders must always observe the Highway Code. This includes: -Riding no more than two abreast and riding in single file to allow traffic to pass on narrow roads -Obeying traffic lights and signs -Not riding on pavements and not abusing other road users. -Please acknowledge any courtesy shown to you by other road users and stop at pedestrian crossings where necessary. -Riders attend rides strictly at their own risk. Please listen to your ride leaders and follow their instructions
