Starting point

Leicestershire

The route starts at Town Hall Square and visits the major points of interest in the city limits. (For this ride we won't be visiting the murder scene which is out near Little Stretton.) We welcome anyone to join us and - for this 1919 based event - particularly welcome anyone who would like to join in on a vintage cycle and wearing period cycling costume.

We are in the city in the run up to the events leading to the famous Green Bicycle Case, the only murder case in legal history in which a bicycle was the main piece of evidence. The route takes in the world of Ronald Light and his family.

The group will ride over the world leading cycle infrastructure throughout the city centre and the area south to Aylestone Meadows.

We will stop at what was the County Police Station on Green Dragon Square and the site at which an identity parade was held. From there we will visit two of the homes lived in by the man who was acquitted of Bella Wright's murder. From there we will visit the tyre factory at which the young Bella Wright worked and visit the scenes at which the police retrieved parts of the green bicycle from the river. The final stop will be at the very courthouse in which the case was tried in 1920.

Water and a spare tube. Helmets are advised but not compulsory.

First-timers welcome!
