From the A66, turn onto the B6280 Yarm Road and turn right into Morton Park. At the small roundabout near the Morrisons petrol station, turn left onto Morton Park Way and left again into the Premier Inn / Beefeater car park. Our start/finish point is at the cycle racks located outside the entrance to the Premier Inn and Beefeater pub. Note this is a private parking area, check local restrictions.

Starting from the Beefeater at Morton Park, we ride in a westerly direction out of Darlington via the Five Arches route and West Park. We then climb through Walworth, Summerhouse, Killerby, Monton Tinmouth and Hilton before arriving at our stopover destination at Staindrop. The return ride brings us via Langton, and Piercebridge then through the west of Darlington and back to the Beefeater via South Park. This is a lovely ride through the country lanes into the west of the region, with a stopover in the beautiful little village of Staindrop.

This ride is classed as a CHALLENGING ride which is a little over 35 miles in total. The ride is undulating with some hill climbs. The ride is all on the road or cycleways – all bike types suitable for this ride. It is suitable for riders who are comfortable sustaining around 11mph avg. and can continually cycle for around 2 hours each way. The stopover on this ride could be for up to an hour. Bear in mind these times are a guide and the ride can take longer.
