Starting point

Durham
DL1 4WD

Starting from outside B&Q at Morton Park in Darlington, this ride takes us south into North Yorkshire, passing through Hurworth, Croft, Middleton Tyas, Moulton, Scorton and Brompton-on-Swale before reaching our destination in the market town of Richmond and the lovely cafe at the old railway station. We ride the return route through Skeeby and Scotch Corner, before joining up with Middleton Tyas again and riding the outward journey in reverse.

This ride is classed as a CHALLENGING ride which is around 35 miles (~17.5 miles each way). The ride has some hills – including a couple of substantial climbs. There is a mix of terrains, riding on the road, cycleways and old railway lines (can be a little rough) so a hybrid-type bike is recommended, although all bike types are suitable. It is suitable for riders who are comfortable sustaining around 10mph avg. and can continually cycle for around 2 hours each way. The stopover is usually around 1 hour. Bear in mind these times are a guide and the ride can take longer.
