Welcome to one of our feature rides – Ride Darlo “On Tour”!

We start from the Wynyard Woodland Park complex in Stockton-on-Tees, there is parking and good facilities here. We join the old Castle Eden railway and follow the route directly north, passing Hurworth Burn reservoir, then through Station Town, Wingate and Shotton. At South Hetton, we head east into our stopover at Seaham on the seafront. The return journey heads back to the old railway, then we’ll ride the outward route in reverse. A great ride which takes in some local history in riding the old railway and travels through multiple counties. Iconic stopover in Seaham with a visit to the infamous Tommy’s sculpture. A few different café stop options in Seaham on the front.

This ride is classed as a CHALLENGING ride which is nearly 40 miles in total. The ride is undulating with some hill climbs. The ride is all on the road or cycleways – trails on the old railway can be rough in places, so hybrid bikes recommended for this ride, no road bikes. It is suitable for riders who are comfortable sustaining around 12mph avg. and can continually cycle for around 3 hours each way. The stopover on this ride will be up to an hour. Bear in mind these times are a guide and the ride can take longer.
