Starting point

Durham
DL2 2GL

Starting from West Park, we ride in an easterly direction via the Black Path and around Five Arches, before riding alongside the A66 and through Sadberge, turning back and heading west at Long Newton. We then ride into Middleton St. George for our stopover at Café Itallismo. The return route brings us back past the Beefeater and through Eastbourne Park, heading through South Park, then up Blackwell Lane and into Mowdon before our return to West Park. This ride reverses a route we’re very familiar with and has a different start/finish point to our normal rendezvous. The pretty little café in MSG is our stopover point.

This ride is classed as a CHALLENGING ride which is a little over 20 miles in total. The ride is undulating with some hill climbs. The ride is all on the road or cycleways – all bike types suitable for this ride. It is suitable for riders who are comfortable sustaining around 11mph avg. and can continually cycle for around 2 hours each way. The stopover on this ride could be for up to an hour. Bear in mind these times are a guide and the ride can take longer.
