The photo shows some of the bags of rubbish we collected last week on a 500 yard stretch coming from Bulls Bridge towards Stockley. We ended up with more than 70 bags - 90% of it was re-cycleable.
There were 8 of us last week - and going to be a few more this week.
We join up with the Friends of the Grand Union canal facebook group to do our bit.
We litter pick for approx 2 hours.
Picking sticks will be loaned for the afternoon.
Advisable to were gloves and warm clothing (remembering that we are almost in November).
Would be great to get some litter picking newbies to coma along and help us clean the towpath in preparation for those wonderful spring evening rides along the canal.
Its only a 2 1/2 mile ride to where we start picking, then 2 1/2 miles back - darker evenings so best to have lights on your bike.
Last week I just parked my bike 50 yards along the path where we were heading, and kept doing it. Worked a treat.
Come along and meet new people and help us out?
Will be joining up with a group of litter pickers from the ''friends of the grand union'' canal facebook group.
Starting from Bulls Bridge, we will work back towards hayes.
We all like to keep the canal litter free if we can, so am just doing my bit.
canal tow path - although I understand the tow path is blocked for resurfacing, so I have mapped how to get round it.
LItter picking normally takes around 2 hours.
This one is 10 am till midday.
let me know in advance so we can make sure we supply you with litter picking items.
Also - bearing in mind we are approaching november - wear suitable warm clothing, and recommend gloves.
